Next for the WNY Guild
May 17th, 2008
The Buffalo Christian Center is sponsoring a morning set of workshops at the center. It's a great opportunity for those of you who have not been to any of our workshops yet to get an up close and practical view of Biblical storytelling, and for those of you who have been, to get some great ideas and practice if you want to.
The flyer is attached (click here). If you can't download it, drop me a line and I'll snail mail it to you. Please post it wherever you can. The Buffalo Christian Center is doing a lot of publicity on it as well, so it should be a good crowd. And it's FREE!
We'll be presenting four workshops, twice each: Carol Wolf will be presenting on Storytelling for Healing and Transformation; Rev. John Klatt will be giving an introductory workshop; Rev. Deb Turley will present on how to use Biblical storytelling in worship, and I'll be doing a workshop, Learn a story now.
The Buffalo Christian Center Bookstore will be open and have materials about storytelling from the NOBS reading list.

The First Presbyterian Church in Youngstown needs a Mother's Day storyteller for about a half hour program with a mix of children and adults. Contact me if you're interested in performing or attending.
-------
The Buffalo Christian Center sponsors a summer Bible day camp during the summer. They need storytellers for half-hour sessions. I will be getting more details soon, but I wanted you to check your calendars and work schedules to see if you might have a half hour to spare around 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday. June 30-July 10 and/or July 21-31. I'm hoping to use a couple of early lunch hours to help out, but, as usual, no one of us can do it all all the time. I also hope to be able to train the Center's volunteers and staff to fill in during the times when we can help out. It will be an interesting challenge and opportunity for us.

I have recently been commissioned as the lay pastor at North Park Presbyterian Church, Buffalo. I'm looking for musicians and storytellers to help me spark the congregation. I'm also holding 10-minute "Commuter Prayer" sessions on the church's lawn (when the weather cooperates) at 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays and 7 a.m. Wednesdays (thanks to Wanda Strong-Howard for her inspirational "Prayer in the Park" sessions). We have plenty of parking, so stop by and pray with us on your way to or from your activities. If I get an audience, we might even do some storytelling.
-------
Carol Ann Gleanson and I are planning on attending the NOBS Gathering the first week of August in Georgia. I have space for two more people in my station wagon, so if you'd like to go to the Festival and have thought the airfare too much, join Carol and me on our trek! Drop me a line if you're interested.

That's the news and opportunities for now. More later.
With songs and stories in my heart ready to share, yours truly in faith and love,
